Using Credit Card
Filed under General Facts, TipsApr 8
When you charge your Gold or Platinum credit card for your car rental, most likely, your credit card company will give your collision insurance free of charge as this is the normal case among credit card companies. However, the coverage may no longer be great. In most cases, credit card companies do not give protection anymore to those who travel overseas or they just maximize the protection to cheaper cars. And adding insult to injury, a deposit will be required on your credit card equivalent to the replacement cost of the car. This is no longer convenient especially if your credit limit is not enough to cover the value of the car.

Time plays a big part.
Even with all these new preventive measures, accidents are still happening. This is why the focus has turned to on which days and at what time accidents are occurring. According to the NHTSA, Saturday and Sundays nights between Midnight and 3 a.m. are the deadliest 3-hours on the road, with a total of 2,451 fatal crashes in 2004, seventy-six percent of these accidents involved alcohol. So you now know what time of day to try and avoid, but do you know that time of year? The Early Edition Report indicates that August topped the charts with the most fatal crashes in one month and December had the most overall automobile accidents, totaling 601,000- something to keep in mind during your vacation and holiday travels!
Your car can affect your car accident.
The vehicle you drive can also play a large role in your car accident. Passenger cars and light trucks accounted for nearly 95 percent of the 11 million vehicles involved in motor vehicle crashes in 2004. Large trucks only accounted for 15 percent of the vehicle accidents. In addition, we saw an increase in vehicles rolling over during an accident. Of the vehicles that rolled over, utility vehicles presented the highest rate at 36.2 percent in fatal crashes, 9.6 percent in injury crashes and 2.4 in property-damage-only-crashes. Regardless of the crash severity, the majority of these accidents occurred during daylight, in normal weather conditions, while the vehicle was going straight. -
Some child safety reminder for you.
Filed under Safety TipsMar 3by: Christine Zafra
Mishaps can happen anytime and to anyone—no one is exempted to this rule. If you have a kid with you most of the time, perhaps your kid requesting some joy ride from “mommy” or “daddy”, then might as well install some child safety measures.
A lot of children die from car accidents because of faulty installations. Yes, that’s true according to the NHTSA or the National Highway Traffic System Administration. One way you can reduce the probability of your child getting a serious injury or die in an accident is to install child safety mirrors. Yes, the mirrors are the ones that reflect back the image of the child to your own rear view mirror. You can easily see them and vice versa,

Uninsured drivers cont’d
They may have to pay a judgment out of their personal assets. In some states, a driver with an unsatisfied judgment resulting from a car accident will be unable to renew his driver’s license until the judgment has been paid. Uninsured drivers may well be forced into bankruptcy.
This is cold comfort to someone who is involved in an accident with an uninsured driver. This adds a large amount to the average annual premium.
Ironically, this can produce a Catch-22 situation: as premiums get higher it becomes even more tempting for some people not to take out car insurance.

2) NHS costs:
Nowadays accident and emergency departments can claim for cost of treatment from the insurance company. This also includes ambulance costs.
Also if you are the innocent victim of an accident, the hospital bills will be paid by the offender’s insurer and vice versa. NHS bills can be surprisingly very expensive.3) Uninsured drivers:
Statistics say that one in 10 drivers is uninsured.
Whenever an uninsured driver gets involved in accidents and ends up injuring other people the driver won’t be able to call upon the auto insurance carrier to defend him against any consequential lawsuits, or to pay any settlements or award of damages resulting from litigation.
