Car insurance is something that you have to pay for every year. The premiums you pay are important if you want the insurance to be active. Nothing’s worse than getting into a car accident and finding out that your insurance has lapsed. That’s adding insult to injury so to speak because it can be quite expensive to shoulder the cost of repairs in case you get into an accident. Make sure that your insurance is paid. Insurance companies, especially those that really know about customer relations, will actually remind you if you already need to pay your premium for the year.

When you rent a car, the first thing that you will be asked is if you want a coverage or not. This is with regards to supplemental insurance that will protect you from damage, liability and theft. However, this will incur additional cost. Many customers tend to agree on this knowing that they are gaining out of it. Unfortunately, it is just a misconception and for many people, this coverage is actually unnecessary provided you have sufficient primary car insurance or you are paying with a major credit card. If you have comprehensive and collision coverage from a primary insurance provider, you only need to pay your deductibles in case of an accident. And many major credit card companies cover comprehensive damages.

Having a car is one luxury that not all college students get to enjoy. While many students commute on their way to class, there are some who are fortunate enough to have a car and drive to campus. And if you are one of the few, then it follows that you should know the responsibilities that go with owning a car. One of which and the most important is being covered with student car insurance. You must include in your expenses aside from tuition fees, books, among others, your car insurance premium. You must be careful in choosing your policy so you can still manage your budget. You must be aware that young drivers tend to get higher premiums. Since that is the case, know how to get discounts and always ask around for guidance.

If you don’t want to be tied to your auto insurance in paying yearly fees, then check out the newest pay per mile auto insurance. Insurance companies have fixed rates, whether you use your car or not. This is actually a waste of money in the end since you’re paying for something you didn’t use.

But with technology and innovation, this pay per mile insurance can solve your financial dilemmas. They will install a chip called odometer (cellphone type) that will give your insurance company a ring in case you add a mileage to your car travels. It works with GPS, so it has a nationwide coverage.

You have to pay an upfront fee though if you want to enjoy this perk and the amount you will pay is dependent on how far you take your car.

If you think driving is such an easy thing to do it’s not. It requires you not only to be very cautious about your surroundings but also of yourself. Doing unnecessary things while driving is like putting your other foot inside your future grave. If you can avoid applying make up, reading the dailies, or perhaps, talking to your mobile phone while driving (number 1 culprit!), then do so. You can do those things before you leave the house or when you get to your destination. If you can’t really handle that ringing cellphone and would to answer it, park under a shade and do your thing.

Due to the faltering economy, many people resort to doing bad things. From a simple shoplifting to ease the hungry mouths of the thief’s kids to car theft, these things vary. There are 4 simple ways outlined by Crime Bureau and you must follow these religiously if you would want to see your car again.

1. Have some common sense. Lock your car and take your keys—as easy as that. Don’t leave it unattended.
2. Use warning devices. Do you hear that irritating noise coming from outside? That’s the alarm I’m talking about. I guess the irritating noise in fact has a purpose as to why car securities made the alarm irritating.
3. Immobilize your car. Yes, you can actually do this with some of the newest cars right now using their smart keys. For old cars, you can have your car’s fuel cut off or what they call kill switches if ever you’re away. That simple.
4. Place tracking devices inside your car. This may sound a bit paranoid to you, but no, it’s actually the most effective among the 4. If you see your car moving, yet you’re not inside it, then that smells trouble. Make sure you put the device somewhere unseen!

Kids inside the car can sometimes be a pain in the neck. They play with your ear while driving, throw things at you and the worst is, you can’t shut them up. Now talk about ultimate distraction.

But of course, you can do something about this. No, I’m not talking about leaving your kids behind but maybe you can distract them. You can buy a mini TV inside the car for them to watch their favorite cartoons. Or perhaps, you can acquire a simple DVD player if your kids have that special something in mind to watch. If you have lots of kids and they tend to fight over the remote control or the push buttons of the TV, then splurge a little and buy a two screened one. With this, kids have choices.

Do you wish you could buy that red convertible or maybe that blue Pontiac you’ve seen on the internet ad? Then go ahead, it won’t affect your car premium anyway. Yes, you heard it right. It won’t.

Many people believe that upon purchasing a premium, the insurance company will actually know all the specs of your car—including color. No that is not true! Others even think that premiums vary depending on the color of one’s car! Not true again. These companies do not have any idea what color your car is, not unless they ask you upfront before you sign up the forms.

In a report by Jayne O’Donnell of USA Today in Yahoo! Buzz Digg Newsvine Reddit FacebookWhat’s this?, it says that there are some latest safety gears which are considered by many automakers as industrial breakthroughs and can save more lives than ever actually have limited safety value. Example is the “crash avoidance” device which is considered by many automakers and federal safety officials as the best contender to lower the annual U.S. death toll connected to car crash accidents. Compared to seatbelts and air bags, the “crash avoidance” device is designed not just to minimize injuries caused by crash but prevent them. However, the IIHS says some of these devices may not work accordingly because drivers tend to disregard their purposes.
